UN peacekeeping chief Hervé Ladsous today said the UN was "giving a lot of thought" to the idea of sending peacekeepers to Syria as part of an eventual political solution or ceasefire. On the Democratic Republic of Congo, he said the M23 rebel group has formed a de facto administration in the eastern area of Rutshuru, where it is collecting taxes, committing killings and rapes and recruiting child soldiers on a large scale.
