The Security Council today (26 July) unanimously adopted a resolution to extend the mandate of the United Nations Operation in Côte d’Ivoire as the Mission, known as UNOCI, has come under criticism for the handling of a recent attack carried out by some 300 individuals against a camp for internally displaced persons (IDPs), which resulted in eleven deaths and scores of people injured.
