The expert will discuss water use and distribution in their first international effort to build an innovative and sustainable water service system for all communities in Darfur.

Seeking $1.5 billion for a six-year series of projects, the Darfur International Conference on Water for Sustainable Peace aims to contribute to peace and reconciliation through the restoration and equitable use of Darfur's natural resources.

Dubbed as the International Conference on Water for Sustainable Peace, the event is a joint initiative between the UN mission in Sudan, the UN-African Union Mission for Darfur (UNAMID) and Sudan government and Agencies.

Long years of conflict and the effects of climate change have made water an increasingly precious -and contentious -commodity for the people of Darfur.
