In 2007, the Lords Resistance Army (LRA) raided Lainya County in Central Equatoria State in Southern Sudan. The rebel group employed their standard tactics by terrorizing the villages, burning huts, and abducting children. Steven Taban was one of the boys abducted by the LRA, he was 18 years old. UNMIS
