Secretary-General Dag Hammarskjöld today visited two Palestine Arab refugee camps near Beirut. He first saw the Dekwaneh Camp, where he inspected UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) installations and services provided for 2,000 refugees living in tents and mud huts; from there they went on to Dbaye, where the Agency has recently completed the construction of brick shelters for 1,800 refugees who moved to their new camp ten days ago.
Mr. Hammarskjöld is seen here (at left) at Dekwaneh; explaining the organization of UNRWA camps is George Safouri, area officer for the Beirut district.
