Press Conference on World Heritage Sites Damaged in Mali Conflict
A press conference was held at UN Headquarters, via video link with Bamako, on the findings of a recent assessment mission on the damage caused to the cultural heritage of Mali after rebel groups seized the northern part of the country in 2012. Briefing from Bamako were: Bruno Maiga, Minister for Culture of the Republic of Mali; Aurélien Agbénonci, UN Resident Coordinator in Mali, on behalf of the UN Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in Mali (MINUSMA); Lazare Eloundou, Chief of the Africa Section of the World Heritage Centre of UNESCO (UN Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization); and Richard Zink, Chief of the European Union Delegation in Mali.
