Secretary-General Tours Headquarters after Hurricane Sandy
Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon walked through flood-damaged areas of UN Headquarters today, particularly its basement levels, and spoke with staff members of the Department of Safety and Security and the Department of Peacekeeping Operations (DPKO)'s Peacekeeping Situation Centre after Hurricane Sandy forced a three-day closure earlier this week of the UN’s New York offices.
Flood marks are visible on the floor of UN Headquarters’ basement level.
