Nigerian Peacekeepers Killed in West Darfur Ambush
Surrounded by a group of peacekeepers, the Force Commander of the African Union-UN Hybrid Operation in Darfur (UNAMID), Lieutenant General Patrick Nyamvumba, inspects one of the UN vehicles involved in an ambush the night before. Unidentified assailants killed four Nigerian peacekeepers and injured eight more during a military patrol, approximately 2 kilometres from UNAMID’s regional headquarters in El Geneina, West Darfur.
