A.U. Conducts Security Sweeps after Shabaab Exit from Kismayo
A street scene in the Somali port city of Kismayo, where today a team of Kenyan engineers with the African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) searched a former police station for improvised explosive devices (IEDs).
The extremist group Al Shabaab withdrew from Kismayo yesterday, 2 October, when AMISOM, the Somali National Army (SNA) and the pro-government Ras Kimboni Brigade entered and captured the city without a fight.
