AMISOM and National Army Gain Ground on Shabaab in Southern Somalia
Soldiers of the Somali National Army (SNA) are seen displaying the Somali national flag in Saa'moja, an area approximately 7 kilometres outside the port city of Kismayo.
For the last two months, with support from the Kenyan contingent of the African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM), the SNA has been steadily liberating areas and villages in southern Somalia formerly under the control of the Al Shabaab extremist group, bringing them to the outskirts of the group’s last major stronghold.
