Displaced Residents Return to Darfur Camp After Looting and Violence
Patients wait their turn in the provisional clinic installed by local authorities in Kassab Camp for Internally Displaced Persons (IDP). Several weeks ago, armed militias stormed the camp and IDPs living there evacuated. While residents have begun to return, the camp’s main medical clinic remains out of service because all the medical equipment was looted by the attackers.
Set up in an old shelter, this temporary clinic serves between 300 and 400 people everyday. But lacking adequate personnel and medical supplies, it is overwhelmed by the needs of camp residents.
