Internally-Displaced Persons Receive Medical Assistance in Kutum
The civilian population in Kutum today received the first humanitarian assistance since the area was attacked on 1 August. A school in the surroundings of the village has been used as a provisional medical centre. A medical team, formed by the African Union-UN Hybrid Operation in Darfur (UNAMID), World Health Organization (WHO), the NGO Goal and the Government of Sudan, assisted about 200 people, mostly women and children with injuries from the attacks and other kind of diseases due to the lack of food and potable water.
Fatma Abdarraman, a resident of the Kassab Camp for Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) in North Darfur, is treated by doctors for injuries to her legs.
