Secretary-General Joins U.K. Foreign Secretary for Olympic Truce Event
Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon joined William Hague, Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs of the United Kingdom, for an event marking the Olympic Truce. Invoking the ancient Greek tradition, the U.N. General Assembly has urged a cessation of hostilities around the world throughout the 45-day period beginning with the start of the London Olympic Games on 27 July to the closing of the Paralympic Games on 9 September 2012.
