UNOCI Holds Memorial Service for Nigerien Blue Helmets
Bert Koenders (right), Special Representative of the Secretary-General and Head of the UN Operation in Côte d'Ivoire (UNOCI), pays tribute to seven Nigerien peacekeepers killed in the line of duty, during a memorial ceremony in Abidjan. The troops had been on patrol in southwest Côte d'Ivoire on 8 June when their unit came under attack by unidentified armed elements.
