South Sudanese Displaced by Violence Recover at UN Medical Base
A child helps to remove a splinter from his mother’s foot as they recover inside medical tents set up by the UN’s mission in South Sudan (UNMISS), in Pibor, Jonglei State. The area is at the centre of a serious escalation in ethnic clashes which began earlier this month between Lou Nuer, Murle, and other groups, over cattle raiding. The violence has so far displaced 60,000 and more than 140 wounded people have been evacuated by UNMISS for medical attention.
