African Union Troops Uncover Shabaab IED, Car Bomb and Suicide Vest Materials
Ugandan soldiers serving with the African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) sort through a haul of munitions that were used by the extremist group Al-Shabaab to make improvised explosive devices (IEDs), at a former steel factory in Mogadishu. AMISOM and Transitional Federal Government (TFG) forces dislodged remnants of Al-Shabaab from the factory following the withdrawal of most of the extremist group's forces from Mogadishu ten days ago. Evidence at the factory suggests the group was also manufacturing suicide vests and car bombs.
