African Union Troops Uncover Shabaab IED, Car Bomb and Suicide Vest Materials
A Ugandan soldier serving with the African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) carries a 120mm mortar shell that was used by the extremist group Al-Shabaab, at a former steel factory in Mogadishu. AMISOM and Transitional Federal Government (TFG) forces dislodged remnants of Al-Shabaab from the factory following the withdrawal of most of the extremist group's forces from Mogadishu ten days ago. Evidence at the factory suggests the group was using the site to manufacture improvised explosive devices (IEDs), suicide vests and car bombs.
