AMISOM Reinforces Mogadishu Stadium following Al-Shabaab Withdrawal
A Ugandan soldier serving with the African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) stands guard in a doorway inside Mogadishu Stadium in the north of the Somali capital, following the insurgent group Al-Shabaab's withdrawal of the majority of its forces overnight on 5 August. Transitional Federal Government (TFG) forces backed by AMISOM troops fought sporadic gun battles in the area as pockets of resistance and "mopping-up operations" took place, according to an AMISOM commander on the ground.
