Secretary-General Visits Human Rights Centre, Buenos Aires
Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon visits the Center for the Promotion of Human Rights in Buenos Aires, Argentina, formerly a notorious detention centre, Escuela Superior de Mecánica de la Armada (ESMA), used by Argentina’s military government in the late 1970’s and early 80’s. Mr. Ban is holding up a scarf that is a symbol of Argentinian women who used to gather in protest of the disappearance of their sons and husbands.
