Secretary-General Appoints Former Chilean President Head of UN Women
Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, in a briefing to journalists, announces his appointment of Michelle Bachelet, former President of Chile, as head of the newly created United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women, known as UN Women. Beside Mr. Ban is Deputy Secretary-General Asha-Rose Migiro.
