Secretary-General Dag Hammarskjöld of the United Nations is now in China, where he went to seek, at the General Assembly's request, the release of all detained UN Command personnel who wish to be repatriated, including 11 U.S. airmen sentenced to imprisonment on espionage charges by the Chinese People's Republic.
Yesterday, Sunday, as there was no meeting scheduled, Mr. Hammarskjöld went sight-seeing. He is seen here visiting Peking’s Summer Palace; walking on his right is the Chief of Protocol of the People's Republic of China.
