International Year for Disabled Persons (IYDP) - 1981
The UN General Assembly has proclaimed 1981 as the International Year for Disabled Persons (IYDP). The principal aim of the Year is to encourage national as well as international efforts for the rehabilitation of the estimated 500 million people of the world who suffer from some form of physical or mental impairment. The main theme of the Year is “full participation and equality".
