The guided tours, under the Visitors Service, are among the many services offered by the United Nations Office of Public Information. The Section also handles queries from visitors and conducts public briefings on United Nations headquarters. In the course of one-hour tours, which are organized for groups of 20 to 25 persons, the guides explain the aims, structure and work of the organization. In addition, they point out the architectural features of the buildings, and the artwork and other gifts contributed by Governments.
Guides play a game of bridge in the lounge set aside for them to relax and freshen their makeup. Miss Ngaire Andersen of New Zealand (standing, centre) observes the game while waiting to return to duty. [October 1964]
