Secretary-General Kofi Annan walks through Adi Keyh, a village 100 kilometers south of Asmara, which serves as a military observer station. Addressing the thousands who came out to welcome him, Mr. Annan said he was very "touched by this warm generous reception and the incredible desire for peace". He said the United Nations would be working with them through the peace process. "As you began to pick up your pieces and rebuild your lives, you must know you are not alone", he told them.
