Spray Congo River Banks in Fight Against Mosquitoes
The banks of the Congo River near Leopoldville are sprayed with an oil solution in the current spray campaign against malaria mosquitoes. The operation in the city and its environs has been undertaken by the Congolese Government with the assistance of WHO and the United Nations Force in the Congo (ONUC) Helicopter Squadron. A special fog-laying device has been fitted for the helicopter assault and "Swing-Fog" machines and hand-operated sprayers are being used in public buildings and concentrated areas.
Standing on the river bank with the two spray-operators is Sgt. Fasasi-Ayeni, of ONUC. [November 1961]
