The General Assembly at its eighteenth session authorized the Secretary-General to install mechanical voting equipment in the General Assembly Hall on an experimental basis for one year. The project has now been completed in the Plenary Hall and the electronic system of recording votes which it makes possible is to be put into operation on a trial basis during the forthcoming nineteenth session of the General Assembly. The voting equipment, which was installed in the Plenary Hall within the $67,100 authorized by the General Assembly, is being rented from international Roll-Call Corporation at $10,000 for one year.
