UN Truce Supervision Organization in Palestine (UNTSO)
The United Nations Truce Supervision Organization in Palestine (UNTSO), an observer mission, was set up under a Security Council resolution in May 1948 to assist the Mediator and the Truce Commission in the supervision of the truce in Palestine.
UNTSO Observers Commandant Celestin Van Horen (foreground) of Belgium and Capt. Nissen Rune (Sweden) are seen on the roof of NAQOURA out-station (AMR 1629-2805) on the coast near the village of Naqoura, observing the penetration of Lebanese territorial waters by Israel forces naval vessels.
