Following the Security Council resolution of 14 July 1960 authorizing UN military assistance to the Republic of the Congo, soldiers from a number of nations have been sent to help restore order and calm in the country.
The Swedish battalion serving with the United Nations Emergency Force in the Gaza Strip left today for duty with the new UN Force in the Congo. Here, Swedish soldiers, each man carrying his personal gear, are seen arriving at Gaza railway station. They will go by train to Cairo, and from there they will be airlifted to Leopoldville.
