Cuba Slammed by Hurricane Gustav; UN Official Praises Cuba's Preparedness for Lack of Casualties

Before Hurricane Gustav hit the United States it caused severe damage and loss of life throughout the Caribbean. The storm was the biggest storm in terms of wind velocity and impact to hit the island of Cuba in 50 years. Susan McDade, the UN Resident Coordinator in Cuba says while the damage was extensive especially on the Isle of Youth and the in the western province of Pinar del Rio, there was no loss of life. Ms. McDade says that's due to Cuba's hurricane preparedness.
