He said fiscal deficits and fears of inflation, as well as insufficient international coordination of stimulus efforts may hamper the recovery.
"Our view is that these recovery efforts continue to be sustained, precisely because of the very tentative character of the recovery thus far."
Mr. Sundaram added that there have been insufficient efforts to reform the economic systems that led to the crisis in the first place.
Mr. Sundaram spoke to journalists in New York at a preview of the UN's report "World Economic Situation and Prospects for 2010", which will be launched next month.
