The Arab League held a high-level meeting at UN headquarters Monday which the Secretary-General of the League Amr Moussa describes as "very useful".
He says they agreed that the Security Council should act swiftly and decisively to deal with the situation in Gaza and prevent the recurrence of such a very dangerous situation.
Moussa was asked what elements the Arab League is looking for in a Security Council resolution:
"First of all the ceasefire, the withdrawal, the lifting of the siege, of the blockade around the Gazans, the humanitarian assistance and opening of the crossings and the idea of a monitoring mechanism."
Moussa says the high-level meting of the Arab League also discussed the importance of moving to establish peace in the Middle East.
