The Committee notes that while the situation remains difficult for everyone, persons with disabilities are particularly affected by the crisis.

The Chairman of the Committee, Mohammed Al-Tarawneh warns that the trauma caused by this disaster cannot be underestimated.

He says that many disabled people "are amongst the most vulnerable of the vulnerable" especially if their main caregivers have been killed or injured.

The Committee, which will meet in Geneva in three weeks, has issued a statement calling for a disability perspective to be included in all humanitarian relief efforts in Haiti.
