Feeding minds, changing lives
Free meals to keep children in school and learning. This is part of the New Partnership for Africa's development, NEPAD's 2015 vision to get every child in school. To achieve this, the organization has teamed up with the World Food Programme, WFP, for nearly a decade now.
While there's little doubt that giving children meals at school help them stay in school, and help them stave away hunger, the experts want to find ways to keep the programmes going, especially in rural communities where the food situation is not very secure. Persistent drought and poor soils in many countries make it hard for parents to feed their children once the programme ends.
