Ban sets deadline for signing climate treaty

UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon is appealing to world powers to secure a legally binding climate deal before the next Climate meeting in Mexico.

The UN Secretary's statement comes amid new diplomatic wrangling over the failure of the Copenhagen summit.

Media reports of Britain accusing China of hijacking efforts to reach a climate deal have been dominating the headlines while China in turn has publicly denounced the performance of developed countries.

Mr. Ban is also calling on the international community to stand together by signing the Copenhagen Accord while promising to work tirelessly with world leaders in the coming months to ensure this will happen.
