Global Fund resumes funding of grants to The Philippines
21/12/2009
The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria has resumed funding of four suspended grants in The Philippines.
The grants-totaling more than $33 million-now will be administered by the Pilipinas Shell Foundation and the Philippines Department of Health.
In a press release on Monday, The Global Fund reports that the grants had previously been administered by the Tropical Disease Foundation (TDF) but were suspended in September 2009 following evidence of unauthorized expenditure.
TDF had also received another grant totaling up to $95 million. The Global Fund says it is negotiating the transfer of this grant to new recipients.
