Spain to make migration a key priority during its EU presidency

The UN Refugee Agency, UNHCR, is encouraging Spain to safeguard the rights of people seeking protection on the continent, as it takes up the European Union Presidency on January 1st, 2010.
Rights of migrants in EU
Spain has made public its intention to make migration management one of its top priorities.
Spain will also oversee the preparation of the Action Plan for the EU's legislative and policy agenda over the next five years, which include the area of asylum, migration, and border management.
UNHCR urges Spain to foster links between development actions and durable solutions to problems of forced displacement, including internal displacement.
