Nobel laureate Wangari Maathai addresses the historic climate change conference

Before departing for the landmark climate change conference in Copenhagen, the UN Secretary-General announced the appointment of a new UN Messenger of Peace. With the world focused on greenhouse gas emissions, and all things "green" in general, it's no surprise that the new ambassador is Wangari Maathai, the Kenyan environmental activist and Nobel laureate. Professor Maathai, who is also in Copenhagen, addressed world leaders at the opening of the conference's high level segment during the second week of the conference. We present highlights from her speech.
