The guardians of human rights

human rights

The special rapporteurs appointed by the UN Human Rights Council are independent experts, who collect information on allegations of human rights violations, either in a given country, or according to thematic mandates.

The UN High Commissioner for Human Rights calls them the eyes and ears of the Human Rights Council. In the programme, we find out what challenges they face in performing their work, and how they contribute to the respect for human rights around the world.
