Guyana urges the FAO to support the Caribbean Agricultural plan

Guyana President Bharat Jagdeo has urged leaders at this week's Food Security Summit in Rome to raise their voices if the message on promoting agriculture across the world is to be heard.

St. Vincent and the Grenadines has called on nations to demonstrate the necessary political will to cooperate against the global problems of narcotic drugs:

In a statement to the UN General Assembly, Ambassador Camillo Gonsalves also highlighted the interrelations between drug trafficking and other developmental problems, and the need for consideration to be given to "transit states" that lie between the drug producing countries of South America and their primary markets in North America and Europe.

Barbados says Security Council reform needs to be a priority issue in the current session of the UN General Assembly:

CARICOM continues to believe that Security Council reform needs to be one of the priority issues to be addressed by this Session of the General Assembly. During discussion on the subject in the General Assembly, Barbados' representative Ambassador Christopher Hackett said it would be incumbent on Member States to build on the progress that was made during the 63rd Session.

Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon is confident of a successful outcome of the Copenhagen climate summit:

The secretary-general told a meting of the General Assembly Thursday that "we can, and I believe we will, reach a deal in Copenhagen that sets the stage for a binding treaty as soon as possible in 2010." He said one can see political momentum building almost daily.
