UN agencies based in Rome have announced plans to intensify their efforts to fight global hunger.

The heads of the Food and Agriculture Organization, the International Fund for Agricultural Development and the World Food Programme have met ahead of the World Food Summit on Food Security to explore ways of maximizing the agency's expertise to strengthen their efforts to better serve the world's one billion hungry people. The agency heads said to succeed in fighting hunger the agencies need to work together. The two-day Food Summit is scheduled to take place in Rome starting November 16th.
