- Building infrastructure is one of the priorities for economic development in Africa where the majority still lives in rural areas and depends on farming. The Chief Executive Officer of NEPAD, Dr. Ibrahim Assane Mayaki says the challenge is to link the national and regional dimensions of infrastructure development on the continent.

- African ministers and experts met recently to review progress made since the International Conference on Population and Development in Cairo fifteen years ago. Marilyn Aniwa, the Executive Director of the Union of African Population Studies says population is a cross cutting issue.
