Renewed steps toward a nuclear-free world

Nuclear weapons, nuclear accidents, nuclear waste and the threat of nuclear terrorism are all bi-products of the nuclear age. In September, the United Nations Security Council, in its first ever summit on disarmament and nuclear proliferation, agreed unanimously "to create the conditions for a world without nuclear weapons ...based on the principle of undiminished security for all."

In this programme, we examine the thoughts of United Nations Member States and others on how to reduce the threat of nuclear weapons.
