Ahmedou Ould-Abdallah was speaking at the third Joint Security Committee (JSC) meeting in Nairobi, Kenya.

The JSC comprises representatives of the government, the African Union, the United Nations and other members of the international community.

Mr. Ould-Abdallah said security forces should be better organized and strengthened, pointing out that what has been achieved since the May 7th attempted coup is great but more needs to be done.

He underscored the need for a professional and well-organized security force to be established by August 2011, the end of the transitional government's mandate.

The UN envoy also urged the international community working in Nairobi to remain focused on key priorities including security, humanitarian assistance, human rights and development, particularly job creation.
