A thirteen truck convoy set out for the DRC after crossing 1,000 kilometers from Uganda to Southern Sudan and transporting more than 140 metric tons of cereals and pulses to the internally displaced.

WFP Country Director, Abou Dieng, says the organization is grateful to the South Sudanese government for allowing the safe passage of humanitarian assistance.

The opening of the South Sudan corridor to Haut Uele via Uganda is a significant boost to humanitarian deliveries to the remote regions of north-eastern DRC. This route will be used in the future for general distributions of food aid.
