St.Kitts-Nevis talks about the impact of the global economic crisis on its economy

The global economic crisis has caused St. Kitts-Nevis to develop and introduce its own stimulus package. Prime Minister Denzil Douglas told the UN General Assembly this has forced the government to sacrifice urgently needed tax revenues in the interest of protecting employment, and necessitating finding the means to shore up and advance the viability of the private sector.

St. Vincent and the Grenadines lamented that while it did not play any part in what it describes as "the reckless speculation and corruption' that precipitated the global financial and economic crisis, its people are hard hit by its effects. Ambassador Camillo Gonsalves.

The Pan American Health Organization says Caribbean states are prepared for the eventuality of a pandemic

Top health authorities set an ambitious agenda for improving health and health equity in the Americas during the annual meeting of the Directing Council of the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO), held last week in Washington, D.C. Ministers and other high-level delegates from North, South, and Central America and the Caribbean endorsed a series of strategies and plans to guide PAHO's technical cooperation activities and action and policymaking by its Member States.
