Promoting breastfeeding in Africa
At the start of the World Breastfeeding Week, celebrated annually from the 1st to the 7th of August, UNICEF Executive Director Ann Veneman visited Nigeria, where she spoke about breastfeeding and how it can improve children's nutrition, health and development. Nigeria is the most populous country in Africa. But that's not the only reason UNICEF is focusing on the country, says Christiane Rudert, Nutrition Specialist in Infant Feeding at UNICEF.
Prioritizing health issues
Why do some health issues attract all the attention and money, while others are virtually ignored? Jeremy Shiffmann, author of an article on the subject in the August issue of the Bulletin of the World Health Organization, believes his response to that question is a bit controversial.
Young people take the reins at the first global model UN
