General Assembly delegates adopted by acclamation a sweeping action plan to help blunt the impact of the global economic downturn, especially for developing countries. The 60-paragraph text expressed world leaders' belief that the global financial and economic crisis which began in the world's major financial centres, has spread throughout the global economy, negatively affecting all countries particularly developing countries.

Caribbean States joined the international community in condemning this week coup in Honduras. In a statement to a special meeting of the UN General Assembly to discuss the situation in Central America in response to the situation in Honduras, regional Governments noted with great concern the forcible removal from office of the democratically elected President of Honduras, Manuel Zelaya by certain sections of the military, and of his forced exile.
