Princess Haya calls for donations for Pakistan
Princess Haya Bint Al-Hussein is calling for a massive international effort to assist hundreds of thousands of people recently displaced by fighting in the north-west region of Pakistan.
In a public service announcement broadcast by television networks across the Middle East and elsewhere the princess is urging the public to donate to the United Nations refugee agency.
Princess Haya, a UN Messenger of Peace, says the crisis in Pakistan is the largest humanitarian emergency in the world today with millions of people forced to abandon their homes, their communities and their loved ones.
The United Nations refugee agency wants to ease congestion by expanding camps and providing solutions for host families.
It also wants to scale up assistance to people staying outside of camps, but the shortage of resources is already reducing the amount of shelter and other forms of assistance the Agency would like to give to the people in need in Pakistan.
