Climate change is a global concern. But it is especially acute for the Pacific Islands, which are already feeling its effects in the form of rising sea levels and On June 3rd, the General Assembly unanimously adopted a resolution urging all UN agencies to consider how climate change will affect the world's security. It was introduced by Marlene Moses, the ambassador of Nauru-representing the Pacific Small Island Developing States (PSIDS).

Climate change is everyone's concern. But women are increasingly being seen as more vulnerable than men because they represent the majority of the world's poor and are proportionally more dependent on threatened natural resources. The International Labour Organization is throwing light on the gender aspects of climate change. By promoting 'green jobs' including training illiterate women in rural India to become solar energy engineers, the ILO is also highlighting one possible answer. Mandy Cunningham reports.

It's been more than 60 years since the Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki were destroyed by atomic bombs. The Japanese word for the survivors of those attacks is "Hibakusha" which literally translates as "a person who has been bombed." Toshiko Tanaka, Hiro Iso and Takehisa Yamamoto were very young when their hometown, Hiroshima, was bombed on August 6, 1945. They recently visited UN headquarters to share their life stories-and their life-long passion to rid the world of nuclear weapons.
