The UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs-OCHA says it is implementing contingency plans to fill the gaps left by the expelled non-governmental organizations in Sudan.

This as a result of the decision by the Government of Sudan to revoke the credentials of 13 NGO's.
OCHA says there are 76 NGOs in Darfur, which account for more than half of the aid delivered. The UN office says it is deeply concerned about the welfare of up to 4.7 million conflict-affected people in Darfur, including 2.7 million internally displaced people.
It says with the loss of these NGO's 1.1 million people will be without food, 1.5 million will be without health care and over one million without potable water.
OCHA says its aid operation in Darfur is the largest humanitarian emergency in the world. This year alone the UN is requesting some 2.18 billion dollars for relief and humanitarian operations. The appeal is currently 31.6 per cent funded.
